Father's Day 2001 was the last day in the nest

for the 5 Steller's Jay babies.

All 5 birds made it to the ground down safely.

People across the country were captivated for 22 days watching these

5 baby birds from birth to leaving their nest. Today the babies spend hours circling their nest and trying to find the perfect spot to take that first plunge. The babies were closely escorted once on the ground by the two protective parents with the help of two additional adult Steller's Jay birds.
