Hangin' out Down the street

Re: Motorcycle -VS- Pickup

Yesterday about noon I was riding my bicycle up to inspiration point and came across an accident involving two street bikes and a pickup. Has anybody heard of any injuries from that wreck, I can't find any info on it beside the ANF dispatch (they were first on the scene). I asked at the scene but no one would (or could) give any details.

Read the article in the AV Press this morning

Two motorcyclists were injured, one seriously, Tuesday when they hit a pickup truck making a U-turn on the Angeles Crest Highway.  The seriously injured man was transported by helicopter to AV Hospital.  The other rider suffered a broken arm.

The preliminary CHP investigation concluded the Chevy truck made a U-turn near a blind curve.  In the middle of its turn  the truck blocked both lanes as the motorcyclists approached.

Thank you

That explains the position of the truck and no skid marks. The wreck was coming out of that sweeping right turn about a mile west of big pines. Poor bikes would have had no time to react with the truck blocking both lanes. Glad to hear no one was killed, I kind of got that impression from the way the forestry guys were acting.

Saw a wreck on Phelan road this afternoon around 1:45 an explorer had rolled and landed on its wheels in the East bound lane of the road. I passed before any emergency vehicles arrived, but there were quite a few people around the car talking and tending to the driver. I did not see any other cars that looked like they were involved.

Lone Pine Canyon Rd at both sides of Sheep Creek wash is closed.

It's also possible that Lone Pine Canyon Rd, through Lone Pine Canyon has been closed - I'm trying to verify that right now.

I talked to County Roads workers at the Lone Pine closure this morning. They said that the road would be open by 2:00.
