Wounded Deer On LPC
« Reply #1020 on: Apr 22, 08, 05:41:51 AM »

There is a wounded deer at the bottom of LPC near the "S" turns.
HB wanted me to report this as a deer getting in the road is dangerous.  Be careful.

Thanks for posting that.

I was down on the bottom S turns.  The deer was laying on the right shoulder of the road.  I think it was hit, but still alive.  It appeared that it's head was up.  It was still dark out.

Does anyone know who I can call?

Thanks.

County Animal Control (800) 472-5609

Thanks Wildman.  I already called that number.  They told me to call the local police department to get the closes Animal Control office.

Anyways.... I found another local VV Animal Control number.  Had to leave a message.  I don't know if they will call back.

Not having much luck reporting this.  I have been bounced around this morning...

Has any else seen the deer this morning?  Seems like there was more local concern for the LPC lost pelican a few years ago....  Tongue

When I went by there looked to be animal control looking around at around 6:00.  I was going to drive down for location and check then call but a truck was already searching.

There is also a dead dog (black lab? hard to tell) on the side of the road northbound side of 138 just past the hwy 2 light. (before the Sheep Creek sign on the right side).  It's been there two days.  Who do I call for that?

After having two kamakazi deer run into my Dodge, $1,500 in damage the first time,, and $950 the 2nd time I went out and purchased a deer killer bumper that will better protect my truck.

You could well be correct.  There is no one closer then Long Beach last time I checked with them.  Mike is doing environmental mitigation and not available for other response normally.

I call them contraptions "deer strainers".  Living here in No. Idaho I need to get one on before I have a mishap but if I hit a moose it won't matter.

The Big Rock 3 mile dirt road that Robert W is referencing has an avalanche just about every 2 years or so & yes it is usually significant!!!  Also if you happen to drive on that road in heavy rain the last mile or so before highway 2 is slippery as snot (clay) to drive on.  That is a beautiful drive that's for sure!  I hope they can get it reopened soon.

That was my first call.  The guy at fish and game told me his job would be a full time job if he had to take care of the calls about hit deer.  He told me to call "Animal Control."  So I did.  Then I was on hold for 10 minutes.  When the lady answered I told her what I saw.  She then said I needed to call my local police department to find out where my local Animal Control office was at.  Whatever.  I was not about to call the sheriff/police.  They have enough going on.....I don't know.... Today was pass the BUCK.... or should I say pass the DOE....  Tongue

I know there's a better place for this topic, so please move it somewhere . . .  Undecided

Hubby called and said the entire overpass is closed in both directions. Anyone know what's going on?
