That map has gone back to the county GIS for some changes requested by DFG. So far no finish date has been provided.

Per County GIS:  the shooting areas map is still being developed - County Fish and Game Commission hopes to have it finished by next year, as far as we know- and all questions should go to the Commission.  The GIS Team is working on developing map designs for them as they make decisions, but some areas aren't finalized yet.

When the map does come out, keep in mind that there is a margin of error on borders as displayed on any printed map - the strongest/most definite border areas would be along some physical feature, like a road or streambed.  Most other border areas are subject to local interpretation of a legal description by a ranger or other official - so our map will only be a guideline when it arrives.  We'll make it as accurate as possible, but all printed maps have their limitations.  Just so you know.

I attended the San Bernardino Co Fish N Game Commission meeting Tuesday the 18th and the county shooting map is almost done. It's going to the Supervisors for final approval on June 15th and then the 30 day wait period for it to be legal. Maps are going to be the same size as the old map. Unfortunately they won't be waterproof. Maps will be $9.95 at Bass Pro for now. There is a request to have Special Districts sell the maps like they did with the old map and to allow vendors all over the county to sell them.

The online version of the map will be .pdf and you'll be able to zoom in and print sections. I talked with the IT guy for SB Co at the commission meeting and he's gonna check to see if the online version of the shooting map will work with Smartphones (iPhone, Crackberry etc). If not it would be the cat's pajamas to get the map interfaced to work with Smartphones. No lost or forgotten maps, just blip onto the SB F&G site and interact with the map while in the field. I've seen a demo of Netcomp's shooting map on a Crackberry and it was the shizzle.

Video from the meetings.
