When Crews from Wrightwood Fire Station 101 arrived the house was fully involved. The tenant renting the house told firefighters that the house was without power due to a dispute with Edison and that a generator on the back deck started the fire.
The cause of fire is under investigation.

My heart really goes out the the residents. Please let us know what can be done to help them. Wonderful photography of firefighters with pups, I hope the children are all o.k. I have many household things which may help if needed and would like to do all that I can.

It looks like it went up fast .....These wood cabins with all the trees around are a real concern. That looks like it got real hot...Glad our Fire Dept kept anything else from going up with it.

This was an incredible fire and I would like to help the family living there, if anyone has information on anything they need please post a notice or send me an IM. What a terrible fire and I feel for the family. We know what it is like to have a fire destroy everything you own since it happened to our daughter in the Waterman fire. They will need help.

I wanted to let you all know that I contacted WW Fire Department and spoke with Captain Wilkins. I told him that a lot of people on here are interested in helping the family who lost their house. He suggested, at first, that we could drop items off at the firehouse (he would take a collection) that people wanted to donate to the family but I had explained how we would need to know specifics, (clothes size, age of children, specific needs, etc) in order to not bombard him with donations that are not needed.
Captain Wilkins is going to contact the family and call me and Wrightwood to let us know specifics so we can start the donation process. I'm sure Wrightwood will post this information (as much that is legal to post) on here so we're all aware of what we can do to help.
I also spoke with Nancy at Pinecone Village Child Care and she said that she was going to put out a donation container for anyone who wanted to donate money to the family and also a box for items that parents (or anyone for that matter) want to donate. She (and I) will collect these items and take them to the fire department (unless we're told to do otherwise) so that the family could be helped.
And this is why I love this community.

I am moving on November 1st thru 10th from WW, I was prepared to get rid of many house hold items, even furniture. It may be too soon for them to aquire large items but maybe if someone has a garage they can use to start collecting some things? My heart really goes out the the residents. They will be overwhelmed for a long time.
Thank you Wrightwood, again and again, for creating this site.

Citygal you're awesome, so is everyone else who is wanting to help. (Even if you can't... wanting to is awesome)
I also talked with Dr. Chau's office (Dentist here in Wrightwood for those who are unfamiliar) and Rick at Rick's Roadside Cafe. They both said that they would be willing to help by putting out a donation container or a flyer providing specific information on donations. I called Rick for two reasons... he's got one of the biggest hearts of anyone I know and I'm honored to be able to call him a friend, and also because if we expand the awareness to outside of Wrightwood, there are people who don't know about this tragedy and wouldn't know unless someone told them. Other people, outside of our community, care about us and would want to be able to have the opportunity to help as well.
More calls to make. There's lots of help out there.

When we moved back to WW in the spring, this home was on the market and on our short list, being 4br and priced well. We opted for another, but often since wished we had the 4br. As I recall the owner had to drop the price a couple of times before they sold.
We have some infant/toddler items to donate if the children are of that age.

Once the needs of the family are known, chances are that all these potential donations will not fit their needs - how about a yard sale at one spot with all the proceeds going to the displaced family?
It looks miraculous that no one was injured in the fire (I hope I'm assuming correctly). Does anyone know if the family was in the house at the time? What a tragic event to lose everything, but it could have been even more devastating had lives been lost.

News of this incident has already been posted to the Press Enterprise's website (PE.com). Fire displaces Wrightwood family
A Wrightwood family is homeless after a malfunctioning generator sparked a fire Tuesday night that burned down their house in the 1400 block of Irene Street.
No one was seriously hurt in the blaze, which broke out at about 9 p.m. inside the single-story, wood-framed house, San Bernardino County fire spokesman Otto Schramm said.
A man who escaped with his four children was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. Firefighters rescued three dogs from kennels alongside the home and treated two of them for burns; one of the dogs died from its injuries.
Schramm said the 25 personnel from county fire and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection had the blaze out within a half-hour.
The fire did an estimated $350,00 to $400,000 damage, Schramm said.
Fire crews managed to keep damage to neighboring homes to a minimum.
The American Red Cross provided the family with a voucher for a motel stay, Schramm said.
