An emaill from a friend:
Renee and I were living at Big Pines that winter and I remember the storms during January and February very well.  At one point, I was walking on top of the snow with a probe  trying to find the top of my vehicles, which were buried so deep by natural snow that there was no indication of their locations (not even a lump).  We were snowed in for a couple of weeks and twice I had to snowshoe down to Highway 2 and hitchhike to Wrightwood to get groceries.//  Oh...the good old days.

Kenneth Rand, from Huntington Beach was found dead, buried in the snow on White Road in Phelan.

He was actually quite well known in the experimental aircraft world.

Good post, Terry!  I remember that storm well, it was our 2nd winter here (we moved up here 3/77).  I have a picture tacked on my bulletin board in the kitchen, of the front of our house after that storm.  I remember my hubby went up on the roof to shovel off some of the snow, because we were worried about all that weight, and he didn't even need a ladder to get up there!  I don't remember what we did about shoveling out and getting to work.  I guess we just did it.  I had a lot more energy 31 years ago!   ;D
