In my experience this is because too many people(snow players) are connected to the one tower in town. Seems to happen every year on the weekends that have snow.

Here is Verizon's network status page: https://www.verizon.com/support/check-network-status/

They all use the same tower, so I can't imagine one is much better than the other, as far as signal strength. Customer service/price may be the onlyh thing separating the various companies
I think Verizon has a tower somewhere above Wright Mountain Road that is not shared.  It appears to cover CA-2 to the East, while T-Mobile didn't cover there last I checked.  I haven't tried AT&T since I moved here a decade ago.

I haven't figured out how to get to the cell up on Rivera, above Big Benny's, but I'd love to know the phone number on the sign.  That'd tell who really manages that site -- probably Crown Castle or American Tower or someone like that who leases service.

Signal "strength" depends on a lot of factors, but they are going to be pretty similar in town.  One interesting thing is that 4G and 5G can share a cell, with 4G getting "priority" simply because the 5G protocol lets it step aside, and there is nothing to do that in 4G.  I see a lot of T-Mobile's 5G internet, and that's going to affect T-Mobile in general.

I am unimpressed with Verizon support.  Doesn't matter if you're with them directly, with Visible, or some MVNO.

The cashier at WW Fine Foods mentioned an issue with Verzion

Anyone else having issues with Verizon in Wrightwood? My iPhone is only showing SOS mode, but when I drive to Phelan, I get service again. Just wanted to confirm if it's a widespread issue. Is anyone else unable to make calls?

Might have to send a smoke signal to order my pizza.

Any thoughts on which carrier (MNO, not MVNO) is best in Wrightwood proper?

It's been a long time since I've tried T-Mobile or AT&T.

I know a lot of folks use MVNOs like Mint or Twigby, I'm asking about the towers.

Thanks!

WiFi Calling works stunningly well.

Doesn't hurt to have a super-cheap VoIP line as a backup.
