Prescribed Fire Planned for June 10-12
Smoke Advisory from June 10-16

Did you know that fire, when managed very carefully under the right conditions, can reduce the risk of wildfires in nearby communities; help reduce risks for wildland firefighters; protect buildings, campgrounds, and picnic areas; and/or benefit forest health?
The Tanbark Prescribed Fire is planned for Monday, June 10, through Wednesday, June 12, provided conditions allow, in the mountains above the foothill communities of Glendora, San Dimas, and La Verne, CA. Smoke could be visible through June 16, as prescribed fire operations may continue for several days, if conditions allow, in order to complete planned acreage.

Learn more about prescribed fire updates on the Angeles National Forest website, on Facebook Angeles National Forestangelesnationalforest, and on X (formerly Twitter) at @Angeles_NF. Signs about the prescribed fire will be posted nearby along roadways. Or, for more information and updates, visit the Angeles National Forest website: https://bit.ly/3Rh4Ppb or call a forest office.

NOTE: Smoke from the Tanbark Prescribed Fire is expected to be visible inside the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument section of the Angeles National Forest, specifically from the Glendora Ridge Road to Big Dalton Canyon Road, and along part of Mt. Baldy Road. Smoke may also be visible and linger near surrounding communities until the weekend:

West Covina
Glendora
La Verne
San Dimas
Claremont
Upland
Mt. Baldy
Rancho Cucamonga

Today, the Tanbark Prescribed Fire (planned fire) was cancelled due to environmental conditions. The Angeles National Forest will reschedule the Tanbark Prescribed Fire at a later date to be determined, which could still be as early as this week, depending on conditions. Conditions will be assessed on a daily basis.
