The Ornithology Dept at Cornell Univ has a very interesting site:

There is a lot of information and a section that tracks bird migrations.
The site also has an app that you can download for identifying birds:
www.birds.cornell.edu/landtrust/Merlin

it also has bird songs/calls you can use to identify our feathered friends.
