It's going to do a lot of running in it's life, it's a deer
Except that mom left him/her hiding there for the reason nature intended. Hopefully it didn't go too far and mom finds it again.

I'm confident nature gave these animals the skills to survive

Don't worry, mama found it :)

Just sitting here in PH, looked out the window and saw a good sized bobcat just wandering across my deck.  COOL

FYI... mountain lion in P.H.  A friend talked to a neighbor down the street and there was sighting a few days ago.
Location:  East of Green Road, about a half mile or so East on Maria Road, west of the Sheep Creek Wash.

This seems a bit early in the season to me for a cougar. They have a young foal which may have been the attraction.  cheryl o7o

No season for a Mountain Lion....truly a four season cat.  Males roam and defend 250 sq. mile area.

Thanks for that information Jim.  I had thought that they'd only come down to our elevation in search of water. We have a bumper crop of squirrels and rabbits this year. So, they have a lot of small game.  cheryl o7o

I just saw a coyote "hopping" down Edna Street, then turned and went through the empty lot next to the Community Garden.  Don't know if it was limping or what, I've never seen a coyote walk/run like that before.  I don't know if it's injured or what.  Watch your small pets, everyone.

I've seen them do that down the hill in some bushes.  There was a couple of them and I think it was as much play as it was hunting for critters.  As a standard mode of locomotion, no, I've never seen that and I've only seen it the one time.
