I know a lot of folks have evaporative coolers, and I wish we did. The house had central air when we bought it.
We don't use it much (portable "swamp" coolers work most of the time), but there is that one to two weeks we really appreciate it.
It's an old system, and R-22 is "outlawed" now.
When I called the bigger HVAC companies, they all wanted to change it over to a new refrigerant, or replace it altogether. Way too expensive.
Then I discovered Meza's Appliances in Hesperia also does A/C.
I called them, they came out, checked everything, said the system was in good shape, but a tiny bit low on R-22. He was happy to top it up with genuine (recycled) R-22, and the system is working great.
Price was reasonable.
