I wouldn't advise anyone else to do this, but a quart to a half-gallon of "old" gas (including gas with 2 cycle oil) added to a mostly full tank of gas should be fine.

If the gas/oil mix isn't for a chainsaw or a lawnmower, and you don't know that the oil was clean when mixed, that I would discard.

If it's old enough that it's more like varnish than gasoline, that goes too.

Your Mileage May Vary.  I don't know what you've got or how long it's been sitting.

lwt42 - You always amaze me.  Interesting tip. Must say that the 'drop off' places have a lot of rules and few opportunities to follow them. They're open a couple days a week for X hours, no more than 5 gallons, they keep your gas can or you can come back for it.   What I have are a number of unopened pre-mixed gas with 2-cycle oil added for weed trimmers, hedge trimmer, and chain saw. It had stabilizers in it. It's 3 years old. My wonderful son stocked me up.  I will keep your tip in mind. (p.s. Did you know that repealing the FP-5 tax is on the ballot again for June?
