Hunting season following a major fire...

It seems contradictory to allow hunting season to carry on while at the same time performing forest rehabilitation.  Why would we not allow game some time to move out and back into the burn area at a later time?

I totally agree, Joe.  I hate hunting up here anyway, I love seeing animals in our forest.  But especially now, while the forest has a lot of rehab to do.

Jeremy:
Funds from hunters goes into forest rehabilitation. Id bet my truck that the average hunter spends more dollars on the environment than average non-hunters.

Regardless, the department of fish and GAME issues tags based on what is healthy for the environment. Take deer in d11, for example. The number of tags allowed to be sold never reaches its limit; therefore even if there was 100% success rate, there would be a surplus of bucks that could be harvested. The typical hunter success rate in d11 for deer is under 3%.
