Wildlife Safe Distance
(1/1)
KC:
Keep a safe distance from all wildlife. If you cause an animal to move, you are too close!
Good examples of what happens when you get to close can be found here:

I ran across a huge diamond back once in AZ, he was stretched out on the road and I made the hubby stop so I could get a picture and shoo him off so we didn't run him over. He never once made any threat to me as I walked up to him or even when I prodded him with a stick to get him to move along as all he wanted to do was warm himself in the morning sun and digest his morning meal.
On the other hand, I didn't get that much cooperation from a small rattler I was trying to relocate from my yard. He was full of spunk and didn't take kindly to being told that he had to move. He lashed out a few times and when he did, his whole body came off the ground. After letting him calm down, I laid a garbage can down on it's side in front of him and wah lah...he crawled right into it as if to say, "wow, what a nice place to hide from that crazy witch" and I was able to transport him to a safer location for both him and I.
But I know one thing for certain, I no longer walk barefooted around my home any longer as I almost stepped right on that little guy.
Krikky that was one close call, that little booger coulda had his way with me.
;)
My advice, if you ever have a critter intuder that you need evicted...call Fish and Game. It's safer for both you and the critter. Unless you are well intune with what you are dealing with, never handle the situation yourself.
