A reminder of our Memorial Day event at the Park! Two speakers this year! One our County Supervisor and the other a speaker who has flown here to assist us in being the first in the state of California to fly the new Suicide Awareness & Remembrance (S.A.R.) flag.

Referring to signs between town and 138, not decreasing speed entering town.
If the sign is white, it's legally binding.  If the sign (40 mph at a curve) is yellow, it's an advisory.

I don't drive in an out of town daily, but I didn't notice anything different on Wednesday.

I haven't counted, but the speed limit does change a fair number of times between 138 and "downtown."

I know because if I'm driving and my wife is in the car she reminds me of each change.

Faster where there are no homes, 45 when you reach the first houses, 35 when you hit down, 25 next to the school, etc.

I don't think those have changed since I moved here a decade or so ago.

Those yellow "speed limit" signs on the curves are advisory only... not mandatory. I'll have to look closer for the other signs. I know there is a 25mph sign very close to the 2/138 intersection, but that's only when snow is present (I think those are the words on the actual sign). The signs by the chain-up area are probably the same, and meant for chain conditions. Maybe someone forgot to "turn the signs around" after the last snow event?

I believe that you are one of the few residents that actually pay attention to the signs.  :2thumbsup:  That said, it's really sad to see how there's a complete disregard for the speed limit. While I agree the signs in the curves seem to be overkill, I have seen my fair share of vehicles leaving the roadway in those areas; one ending tragically.

Can anyone explain the odd assortment of speed signs that have appeared on Hwy 2? Coming up the hill I see Speed limit of 55. A bit up the road is a pedestrian-type sign of 25mph. Where? Further up it’s “35 ahead” at the chain turnout. And a little from there is the “45zone ahead”, usually applied to reduced speed not increased.
Coming down the hill is even more fun. Past the 45 area I see 50mph, and just a few feet from there the “25 mph pedestrian” sign. (Again, where?) couple hundred feet or so is a 40mph sign around the curves (which no one pays attention to)
And then there is the plethora of curve arrows! Good grief do we have that many people going off the curves??
Personally I think Cal Trans had a whole bunch of signs left over from some other project and didn’t want to bother with returning them to storage so they just plunked them up and down Hwy 2.
The reflectors on the guard rails are ok but the other signs…….??

Grey fox spotted this morning in Pinon Mesa area.  Caught on video.  Definitely a California Grey Fox.  Coyote spotted in same area a couple of days ago.

Keep your pets safe.
