Acrylic is a versatile painting medium with similarities to both oil and watercolor, appreciated by artists
for its color intensity, flexibility, ease of use and water cleanup. This class will provide an introduction
to painting with acrylics including color mixing, creating light and form, composition development and
technique. Some basic drawing instruction will be included to help students develop a still life painting
and a landscape over the course of the class.
Materials list to be provided, or one can pay a materials fee of $25 and have all materials for the 6 week class.
The WRIGHTWOOD ARTS CENTER is located at 6020 Park Avenue, #5, above the Village Grind, in Wrightwood, CA 92397.
Artist Info:
Pat Cates has been an artist and art educator for many years. She received her degree in Fine Arts from
Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, and subsequently taught art at public high schools in Illinois,
Virginia and California (Serrano H.S., 2000-2007). She worked as a Student Activities Program Advisor
for the Arts at SIUE and Georgia Tech. Since 2010 she has been making art at her studio in the Big Horn
Building in Wrightwood, next door to the WW Arts Center. [/size]
