Does anyone know if the trails are open again?  Baden-Powell? Blue Ridge?

Any word if the trails have been closed because of the fires? Is there a number I can call to find out?

One of the closures mentioned on another thread regarding Sheep Fire closure area said that the PCT was closed from the 15 freeway to the 14 freeway. So that closure would include many of our local trails I'm sure.

The wording of PCT being closed from the the 14 fwy to the I-15 is intended mainly for thru hikers... and I noticed that wording was revised the other day in most sources I saw.

In our area, most of the PCT is open...

From the far east end of Blue Ridge, (near Wright Mtn and above Slover Canyon) westward past Baden Powell, and all the way to Islip Saddle is open for hikers.

From Slover Canyon east to the 15 is closed, (and is appropriately signed). .. and from Islip Saddle west to the 14 is closed.

Maybe someone can post a map and highlight this section. I'm not real good at that kinda stuff ;)

However, remember Hwy 2 is closed at Vincent Gap westward all the way to Glendale/La Canada.

Are any nearby trails open for short hikes? Wasn't sure since the Sheep fire. I'm thinking of the simple trails up by Table Mountain Campground?

Thanks

Yes the trails are open by Table Mountain, Blue Ridge, etc.
The only trails closed near Wrightwood would be in Lone Pine Canyon.

The official "closure map" indicated that the PCT trail was closed not only through the Sheep Fire area, but beyond, all the way toward Guffy.

Be assured that we are recognizing the PCT as "open" from Slover Canyon to the west.

Good point Bob.
Basically they don't want any through hikers on the PCT.

At tonight's MAC meeting it was also mentioned that the entire Lone Pine Canyon burn area will be fenced off with 3 strands of barb wire during the Sheep Fire rehab period.

As a side note...

The rumor is that CalTrans is hoping to have the Angeles Crest Highway opened to through traffic by the first part of November.

Of course the Station Fire Closure will probably still be in effect.  I doubt there would be any reason you'd want to stop and recreate west of Chilao anyway.
