Here's what I was I found out:

See the ad in tomorrow's paper. I don't have particulars other
than sign-ups in mid-June at the old Fire Station and to start on 7/2.
Yvette will be back first of next week.

Hmmmm, wonder if swimming lessons at the camp are cancelled today?  Yvette at fire station is not in until 12:30 and there is no answer at the camp yet.  I will post something if I find out....

No lessons today, but they may continue the rest of the week in the rain if there is no lightning.  Camp phone: 249-3453

I know last year the Methodist Camp did swim lessons. Does anyone know if they will have them again this year? How do we sign up? When do they typically start? Thanks for any info!

Call the fire station? They handled it last year.  ;)

Yes snwbnny the program is scheduled for this year.

Call the Fire Station at (760) 249-3206 during working hours.
Ask for Yvette.

If the Methodist camp is not holding swim lessons... my kids have taken lessons at Cal State San Bernardino. It is a very good program with an excellent, caring staff. My youngest will be taking lessons there again this year.

I was thinking of going the Cal State route as well. However, with the gas prices, I would want to have a carpool situation in place.

From their website it looks like today is the day to get registered:

Registration for CSUSB Recreational Sports Summer Learn to Swim Lessons has begun at the Student Recreation and Fitness Center.  8 half hour group lessons for youth 4 years and above are only $40 if you register before 5/20/08.  Private lessons and semi-private lessons are also available.  For more information and to download the registration form please visit our Learn to Swim web page.

Anyone who used the p&r lessons at the camp last year -- was it a good program? The one we took through Victorville last year was not that great and my kids are still scared of the water. Just wondering if this one is worth it or not. I don't really want to have to drive down the hill.

The program at the camp last summer was great!  I understand the gal that taught the classes last year left the area.  She was good with the kids.  I would HIGHLY recommend it if it is taught this year.

The best part was the family "free swim" on Fridays!

My son has gone to the swim lessons at camp last year and one time prior.  The are terrific lessons and I highly recommend.  Note, lesson are not always provided so inquire with them to see if they will have them this summer or not.

My son has also had swim lessons at the Country Club...but I don't recommend for the younger kids... because the water is just to cold and all they want to do is get out!  Plus, I just feel it's better to learn in a pool than a lake starting out.

Has anyone else gotten any info on if they are doing the lessons this year? I tried calling a couple times and Yvette was not there. I spoke to someone else and she didn't think they were. She was supposed to have Yvette call me back but I never did hear anything.

Yah, my 5 year old won't get into a lake to swim. He's nervous about swimming as it is - not seeing the bottom won't help. Besides, we're not members. Thanks though.
