Title: Fires
Post by: bigfrank on Mar 16, 03, 02:59:23 PM
Has Wrightwood ever been threatened by wildfires?  Considering you all are in such a dry area, and with massive fires periodically in the news in the LA area, have these ever affected Wrightwood?

Every year.  They have some links to different fires on the homepage if you're interested in reading up on em.

I guess I should clarify.   Has there ever had to be an evacuation because a fire was roaring down (or up Hwy 2) threatening to engulf the town?

This picture was from the Blue Cut fire last year that got close enough for me, although I heard that the one they all call the Boy Scout fire was a lot closer.

Wow, that was scary!  I imagine homeowner's insurance is staggering because of that!
