I'm thinking of getting a Honda Pilot. I'd love to hear your opinions on it if you have one.

We have a 2005 Honda Pilot and we love it! We have had it 3 years in June and it is a great vehicle, so far no problems. We also have a 1998 Honda CR-V that is a great vehicle too!

We also have a 2005 Honda Pilot (3 years in January) AWD, and we love it. I put A LOT of miles on it, and it has never let us down yet. It's small enough that parking is easy, yet roomy enough to carry 8 people (best if the 3 passengers in the back are smaller :). And the best part is that it sits up high enough to get pretty good clearance in the snow, and it handles nicely in the snow :2thumbsup:

Only thing I've heard about them is that the 3.5L 244 hp V6 under the hood can fly at wot. ;D I'll check around and see if they have any common problems. One thing about the Honda dealers I've heard a few times recently is they aren't willing to drop the prices at all right now so be prepared to walk unless you own an oil field and money is nothing to you. ;D The end of the month seems to be the best time to get good deals.

Heard a small complaint about the Pilot yesterday, two different owners said that when you have the third row seat up, there is not much room for cargo and since the rear window does not open, anything you do put back there tends to fall out when you open the back. I know this is nothing major but I heard it and thought I would mention it.

I would have to agree with that observation. If there was one thing I would change it would be that. The Honda 1998 CR-V that I have, the rear window opens separate from the back door, and I like that way a lot better. I still love my Pilot however!!

I've got the Honda Ridgeline which shares the same platform as the Pilot and it has been great so far (knock on wood). My only complaint is the gas mileage, but I believe the Pilot does a little better because of the gearing.

Both are rated 15 city 20 highway. ;)
Thing I'm seeing over and over again on reviews are complaints about the loud road noise, lack of legroom in the 3rd row, and last but not least gas millage ::) It's a big muv what do ya expect? ;D
If you are looking for a 3rd row that can accommodate some one larger than a 5 year old than the Nissan Armada, GMC Yukon, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, Cadillac Escalade would be the way to go. Yea you will loose mpg but you will have happy 3rd row passengers ;)

You won't lose much gas milage, I drive an '07 yukon with active fuel management and my average is 15mpg, and with that you have to take into account that I get 3mpg coming up lone pine, and about 8 coming up 138 to Hwy 2. I can see this information at the touch of a button and if I have it turned on, I tend to be alot more concious of my driving habits and may even slow down a bit to get better MPG.

I have averaged 17 mpg and it has varied from 15 to 20 mpg per tank. I only have 6000 miles and many others have reported better mileage after the engine is broken in, usually after 10,000 miles.

Now that it is warming up you will probably see a little mpg increase. MPG during the winter months will always be bad. People up north report as much as 5+mpg decrease in the winter. :o
