Title: hang glider pics
Post by: SkierBob on Jan 20, 09, 05:56:51 PM
The hill above my house is a launch point for SoCal hang glider enthusiast during Santa Anna conditions.   Picture #1 is my friend Joe Greblo owner of wind sports (http://www.windsports.com/index2.html) giving instruction to a student on the launch ramp.

Great pics.  Got more?  :)

Ya gotta like that "flying sleeping bag" that they use.

I just thought it was efficient that they already packed themselves in their own body bag...

Had a friend in HS a looooong time ago that had a bad accident on one when they first came out.  I've been too chicken to try it ever since.

I know a guy who had the wind die just as he launched.  He really did a number on his knees when he (more or less) landed.  He still can't walk fully normally.  They're beautiful to watch, but ...

Of course, I probably shouldn't talk.  I've taken a sailplane up.  I think they're safer than a hang glider, but one is still at the mercy of the wind.

I went on a tandem flight from the hill in the pictures.. We soared the ridge for a good hour or two. If you really want to go for a flight give Joe a call at WindSports.com
