I need to go to Culver City this afternoon.
What's the best route as far as traffic goes?
My appointment is at 4:00p.m., so I figure leaving at 2:00 p.m. should be enough time but I have no idea how traffic can be at that time.

That's about a 90-mile trip; I would allow a little more time just to be on the safe side - - you never know with freeways and accidents.
Fortunately, for most of your trip you'll be going against the traffic so it should be pretty smooth. (15 South, to 210 West, to 605 South), but once you get on the 60/10 West you may have traffic both ways.
I always leave way early, especially if it's an important appointment. If I get there too early, I stop for a snack and a drink and read my book. Less stress that way. Good luck!

I would think that if you have an afternoon appt, you shouldn't be impacted on the way down to Culver City. But you never know with l.a. traffic. I've gone down there and been in a traffic jam at 11 p.m. However, getting out of there would be a different story at 5 p.m. I found that Google has a traffic map now and you can look at the routes and check out accidents.

Sometimes it can be faster to go the "back route" (138 > 14 > 101 > 405). The 10 always seems to be clogged up through LA but the 405 can be okay especially if you're headed against traffic (which it sounds like you would be at that time). Definitely a good idea to check the traffic before you go...!

Shh about the back route. ;) Yes, in the afternoon all the Palmdale people would have already gone down that road so it SHOULD be clear. However, no matter what time you drive down there, the Sepulveda is a PAIN. I've come to the conclusion the Spanish word for traffic jam MUST be Sepulveda.

I can't remember a time when I was on the 405 and it wasn't packed. I would not recommend the back way if you have to use the 405, any time of the day....
