Title: Direct out?
Post by: angelwolf326 on Feb 06, 09, 07:26:42 AM
Got the new big HD dish and it has been out all night.  There is no snow on it.... UGH, anyone else with this issue.  This did not happen with the older smaller dish.

It's been working here all night. (HD Direct)
We do have the dish mounted under the eave and it saves a great deal of problems with snow.

If everyone elses is working I'd suspect the wind moved it out of alignment.   The bigger dish reflects more signal into the LMB, but it also give the wind more to get a hold of.

When you say it's new it makes me also wonder if the installer tightened down the alignment nuts and bolts enough to hold it steady in a good wind.

as I recall it was pretty wind over that way yesterday afternoon.

Our regular old standard dish went out for about 2 hours while I looked from the wondow thinking there was no snow on it. When I finally got fed up and went out, there was a layer of slush on it. Once I got that off, it worked just fine.

It will also go out just if the cloud cover is dense.
