Plan Two of Wrightwood, which was revealed on a graph provided by Smith, Richardson & Gilbert, Selling Agents of the Wrightwood Development Co., showed excellent commendations for residential and recreational uses.

The locations of each recreational area is revealed on the latest map of Wrightwood.(above). Lettered A to H are the locations designated for development in Wrightwood in 1926 by the Wrightwood Devolvement Co.; Smith, Richards & Gilbert, selling agents.
A- Golf Course (in present day, this area is taken up by the Sunrise Church, Mormon Church and Skyline Farms), to the southwest of this was to have been a club house and basketball and volleyball courts.
B- Large Playground
C- Polo Field (just north of the present day Red Gate Lodge on Mill St.
D- Apple Orchard and School
E- Large Hotel
F- Two Swimming Pools
G- 8 Tennis Courts with Bleacher Sitting
H- Large Children Playground
(Items F-H were in the present day locations of Jensen Store and going east past the water company)

The Wright Ranch stockyard and barn always buzzed with activity. It still does today...it used to sit at the location of Jensen's Market!
Wrightwood has gone through changes. However, even though the early plans of recreation did not come to past, it still has much to offer. For those who think there is nothing to do up here, get out of the house...step out of the confines of your yard; there is much to do outside.

Oh I so remember Wrightwood, with the snow piled down the middle of main street in the 70's. Brings back alot of memories.
