Tony Ke6jzf & I spent more than 4 hours up at the site charging the batteries with generators. We decided to leave at 4pm no matter what. When we left, the batteries were at 24.5 volts. Two hours later the voltage went down to 19 volts. They are currently at 10 volts. Our batteries are so large that it will take days to recharge these batteries. I have decided to keep the repeater off for the rest of the night and hopefully the power should be on by noon tomorrow. Until then we thank all of you for your patience with the outage.
Note: I think from now on we won't take the batteries for granted. If the repeater is on battery power then we treat it as such. The additional equipment that was added to our batteries means that instead of 2 months of battery backup we now only have a week. We will look into ways of extending this time but for now it is what it is.
