Just where do these stories come from?  My family owned Skydore from 1974 until it was sold to the people who tore it down.  Why would someone look for spirits and drugs left by the old owner?  My parents lived in that house for more than 3 decades.  Who made up this name "House of the Rising Sun"?  I have been in Wrightwood since my parents purchased their first weekend home in 1949 and I have NEVER heard this name before.  This is how history becomes so distorted when people just make stuff up.

Anybody interested in the true story of Skydore and Kay Mullendore and the type of retreat she offered to many people from all over the world that were interested in a body cleansing health diet can be found at the Wrightwood Museum.  Any rumors of it being a brothel are untrue.

Sounds like this place ultimately turned into a teleportation site sending folks directly to Slab City....  :eyebrows:

roynlorimoore,
Please fell free to contact Terry Graham at the museum or at 760 249-4707 as he wrote the story and I'm sure he'd like to clear up anything that's not accurate.
