The lone pine that Lone Pine Cyn was named after, still stands. Even though the fire through Lone Pine Canyon blackened much, the upper portion of Clyde Ranch..which has been called Lone Pine Meadows Ranch for many decades, was pretty much untouched. The bison that used to be there were carted away after Dick Johnson died last year...of an infection that was probably caused when the bison bull drove a horn through Dick's chest. The bison were moved to the Kempel Cambell Ranch (north Verde), which is probably the oldest in the area (Victorville)...they were later moved to another location (because they kept getting out of their pens) in Victorville, where they continue to get fat and happy. Lone Pine Meadows started to be used to graze horses, then later 4h- type project cows. The cattle were transported out of the area before the fire moved up canyon...the cows have not returned.
