Title: Stolen USFS Radio

On October 26, 2009, the San Bernardino National Forest, Mill Creek Ranger Station was burglarized.

A Bendix King (BK) DPHX5102X, Serial #0709431, Digital Portable Radio was stolen during the break in. Also taken was a Dell Latitude D800 Notebook Computer.

The public is urged to contact the US Forest Service at (909) 382-2854 with any information regarding the theft or break in.

Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.

The USFS has recently swapped out all the older radios and provided USFS paid personnel and volunteers with this model radio, affectionally called a "brick" for its reputation for indestructability, weight and size.  It's a $1,300 to $2,000 radio.  It is useless to the person who stole it except for listening in to radio transmissions until the battery runs down.  Tax payer dollars being wasted.  Thieves always brag.  Keep your ears open...
