Title: KW6WW 220 Repeater
Post by: kn3ick on Apr 10, 10, 03:22:24 PM
I was curious about what is the equipment that the 220 KW6WW repeater is using? I was in Wrightwood on this last Thursday when I keyed up the KW6WW 220 repeater. The repeater sounds really good but, what is the repeater using for Antennas? The repeater coverage is only tothe Wrightwood area unless you are in a area where you can use a base to get into it.

Nick the repeater is built using 2 Alinco DR235 Mark III mobile radios and a Arcom RC210 Repeater Controller.

The repeater is temporarily located at the base of Heath Canyon and the Tx & Rx antennas are less than optimal which limits it's ability in the current location. We do have 2 Hustler G-7 (7db) antennas that are being installed at the repeaters home location near the Sunrise Church in town and should improve it's performance once that's completed.

The system runs off battery power and maintained by float charge.

Those are two great Alinco Mobile radios for 220. Just using two mobile radios are usually the best way to install a 220 repeater unless you have a Motorola MVP mobiles. It sounds great tho. I was curious if you guys were able to adjust the audio on it to because it was a little hot on the voice ID and I couldn't tell if the repeater audio was loud.

The receive radio is currently not passing audio so we've got an issue to work out. The controller is working along with the transmit radio as it is id'ing.
