I wonder if we could talk Mike at the Mtn. Hardware into getting one and then we could all rent it????
Gophers Pest Control | Moles Burrowing Rodents

I'd rent it Mike, after looking over all the details.

Put me on the list!!!!

And, think how well that might work on those winter driveway berms! ;D

My neighbor up north as one of these.
It really does work well.
It draws a crowd of observers too.
Boom!

Sounds like a business opportunity for someone.

That's what I thought when I sent the link to mission control. Be a good weekend gig.... and fun to-boot. ;)
She spent so much time and effort going after an underground manacing critter eating all of her bulbs and plant roots. I suggested sitting on the rear deck with a six pack and a shotgun.... didn't go over so well. ::) I sent the link home and figured one be on order by the time I got home from work.

I bet I know what Toolman is getting for Christmas :2thumbsup:
Should work great on Ground Squirrels ???
Ground Squirrels would Kathysc's plants as fast as the Raccoons eat the Koi fish.

If Toolman hasn't already pulled the trigger on the purchase I'm sure he will after watching this video

Yea... I wish....
I just read through the entire business opportunity and had a good chuckle.
I could also just imagine what would happen lighting that thing off anywere near town. Swat teams, bomb squad personel and Sheriff airships would swarm the area in minutes. Step away from the explosive device and lay on your belly, cross your legs while multiple AR's MP5's and maybe a Barrett 416 staring at you.
I see one fault with this product that I recommend Mike not renting this device. There is no timer on the gas mixture other than by guess or by golly. The user instructions includes a list of suggested times, depending on soil composition and estimated tunnel length for proper mixture. The fuel mixture timer is the operator using a time peice... stop watch etc. then after xxx seconds the operator shuts of the fuel mixture.
I could imagine someone leaving the gas on to long thinking if some is good...more is better... KA-BOOM. There should be a timer setting function that would possibly make it stupid proof. ::)
And we all know you can't fix.....

I noticed they offered a newer version that was unmanned via remote control.
Now that takes a lot of the fun out of it. :)

So it kills everything??? bunnies, squirrels, snakes? :(
-
I can see it now. Someone uses it and the rodent has a hole into the leach system. Gas goes through the leach system into the septic tank and then back into the plumbing under the house.
What a mess!. House would still be on the foundation but there wouldn't be a servicable sewer pipe on the property!
It would be better than watching the proverbial substance hitting a fan! And a lot more expensive.
Better have Wayne's Pumping phone number on hand!

Miles, you're a buzz kill ;D

Cheaper and makes a little more sense...

The good ol' gopher trap still works. ;D This fat little gopher has been terrorizing my garden for the last month. He finally left me a nice hole to put the trap in last night and that's all it took. :2thumbsup: I'm still amazed how much damage one of these little critters can do. My garden was starting to look like a land mine field.

Also, when used correctly, it even works on hemroids! :o ;D

You people have definitely advanced to another dimension. :f_ufo:
I think I'll just use repellents and grow stuff the critters don't like.
:P

There is something that grows that gophers won't eat? :o
-
Plastic plants, only eaten by plastic gophers.

Speaking of rodents, a friend of mine is an electrical contractor and will do a complete under-house (for houses on raised foundations) wiring inspection for rodent damage. If you've seen the damage rodents can do to household wiring and the associated fire danger of that damage it's $100 well spent
His phone number is 1-(760)-868-2561.
