I've had a wonderful experience happen to me...a little black headed baby grosbeak landed on my foot and stuck around everyday for the last 17 days. I would go outside and whistle and the little bird would fly down to us and we would feed it meal worms, seeds, nuts (pistachios were his favorite) watermelon and blueberries. He was very tame and loved everyone. A couple of days ago he ventured further from our house and would go to my neighbors deck and visit them. Yesterday he didn't show up and I am hoping he is still out there flying around. If anyone encounters a very friendly and healthy little bird, could you just let me know. It will land right on your shoulder and flutter his wings until he gets his fill of food. I know its a longshot, but if anyone is outside and a litlle bird comes up please be friendly to him. Its been very quiet around here since yesterday.

Tooo friendly for a place with so many predators...
I sincerely hope it returns to you--but maybe it was time for it to migrate somewhere else?

Thats what I'm hoping, he flew the coop with some others. I also forgot to say earlier that 2 days before he landed on my foot, we found an adult grosbeak dead in our front yard. I'm sure it was his mother. and he wasn't quite ready to be out in the world alone just yet. We just helped him get strong and healthy.
