How to post photos on the Wrightwood Forum:
1) The Wrightwood Forum is not setup to upload photos directly into the forum. Your images must be uploaded to a web server somewhere.
There are many free servers where photos can be uploaded and shared such as http://photobucket.com/ (http://photobucket.com/) or http://photohost.org/ (http://photohost.org/)
2) Once your photo is uploaded to the Internet you must know the complete web address of the photo.
For instance: http://www.wrightwoodcalif.com/photosample.JPG
3) Start a new topic or reply to a previous topic.
4) Click on little "computer monitor" button - That should display a set of brackets with img between them.
Like this: (see red circle)
5) Insert the complete web address of the photo.
(See pink highlighted area)

6) Always press the "Preveiw" button and see how everything looks before hitting the "Post" button.

Thank you for the info.

I posted a photo in the Photo Gallery 12/2011. How can I find it? My computer crashed which had the copy. Thank you.
-
Wrightwood, can you link to your Facebook pics instead of a Photobucket-like site.
-
Yes Facebook pics should work as long as they aren't marked as private.
What you need to do is view the image or pic and get the URL that shows the file name and should end with a .jpg , .gif, etc.

I was unable to upload any photos to Photobucket yesterday or today. Anyone else having trouble or is it just me?
-
Of course, right after I posted the above, I figured it out...sorry folks....btw, why isn't there a "delete" function for posts?
-
There is a delete button but after 20-30 minutes the program no longer allows deletions.

Photobucket has had some serious issues since they "made it better". I've got several thousand photos there and now can go days without being able to upload. The new formatting is not easier to use but I feel like it's more cumbersome. You can't grab the image address in the gallery view but must open each photo. Flickr has redone their site and now offer Gigabytes of storage for free. Not sure what the answer is now....I've used both for years.
-
I've tried Photobucket, Snapfish, and Shutterfly without success. Wrightwood, what program do you use for photo upload to this site?
-
We don't use any of those services.
I use an FTP program (File Transfer Protocol) to upload photos directly to our servers.

I posted some pictures but the link comes up to the picture but not the picture itself. Am I doing something wrong?

I just added the photos to your classified listing. They show on my computer.

One one window and go to photobucket. Upload your photo.
Select that photo and a box will appear called Share Links. Go down four boxes and click on the IMG box. It will say copied.
Open another window and go to the forum. Open a new thread and paste. The IMG file of your photo will now be pasted into the post.
That's how i got this image inserted here. Once you insert it, you do not need to do anything else.

For flickr, I have to save a photo (using the arrow pointing down at the line tool) to my desktop....upload it to photobucket and proceed as above.
Post on.

With PhotoBucket no longer free this appears to be an alternative photo hosting site: https://cloudinary.com/

Flikr is good, too. I think that's run by Google. A tip if you use it is that when it gives you the text to imbed your image remove everything else and just leave the image and it's [img] tags. So if you want anonymity you can remove the link to your personal Flikr page and your Flikr username.

I posted this a while back and I believe that Imgur should still be a valid option, there are privacy concerns of course, but if you're posting to a public forum anyway......

There is a Photo Bucket fix for embedded Photo Bucket images on forums and other websites available for Firefox and Chrome: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/photobucket-embedded-fix/
I've tried it and many of the old Photo Bucket images on the forum now display on my browser but not all of them.
