The November Senior Lunch, a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner, will be held:

November 15th
11:00 - 1:00
at the Wrightwood Methodist Church

Seniors aged 55+ and any children in their care are welcome.

There is no charge.
For anyone interested in supporting the program, a $6 donation is suggested.

MARCH SENIOR LUNCHEON CANCELLED

The March 21 Senior Luncheon has been cancelled due to a conflict with the Annual Senior Health Fair in Phelan, also scheduled for Thursday, March 21 from 10 am until 2 pm at Serrano High School. This free event includes a free lunch and some free health screenings.

The next Senior Luncheon in Wrightwood will be on Thursday, April 18, from 11 am until 1 pm at the United Methodist Church, 1543 Barbara St.

This Thursday is the day to join the fun from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Steak with all the fixin's.

It'll be great to welcome back the students from the Wrightwood Elementary School (and Principal Garner) who assist with seating and serving - always with a smile. We missed you while you were on summer break!

What is the vegetarian option?    Can I bring a sugar free dessert for my senior?    I would like to bring my MIL but she is diabetic and on a vegetarian diet.     I would probably eat the vegetarian option with her.   Do we need to notify someone if we want vegetarian?    Like on a plane.

You can bring whatever you want for your dietary needs. I am not sure of the vegetarian option specifically but I know there will be something. It's a pretty easy going afffair. When you get there you can decide if you want to eat or just sit and enjoy the company.

Haha Stitches, I would rather think they mean deSSert.  (I didn't catch that one when I posted about the address.)  And I checked with Bruce at church on Sunday, and there will be a vegetarian chili option.

Enjoy lunch with friends and  take this opportunity to talk to Principal Garner to see if you may be interested in helping to send a sick child to camp. Hole in the Wall Camps, founded by actor Paul Newman give children with serious illnesses the opportunity to attend an outdoor camp, have a normal childhood experience, and in his words, "kick back and raise a little hell."

At last month's luncheon, I shared information about "A Night of Big Dreams," a dinner-dance fundraiser on behalf of Hole in the Wall Camps for children with serious illnesses.  The dinner is on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Serrano High School's gymnasium.  The tickets are $50 per person.

I will bring tickets to the Senior Luncheon if anyone wants to buy them.  I will reserve tables of 8, if you want to get a group of friends together.  I will also have information about how you can make a donation, if you are unable to attend the dinner.

I'm looking forward to the Senior Luncheon on Wednesday!  It's always a highlight of our month at Wrightwood Elementary School.

Don't forget to schedule the Gathering Friends over 55 luncheon on Wednesday, July 16 on your calendar. The menu includes a Taco salad and other things, yet to be determined that will complement the meal. There was a great turnout last month - thank you Red Hat Ladies of Wrightwood - and hopefully it'll be another large crowd this month. 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Methodist Church off Elm and Barbara. $6 donation requested.

I agree with Joe and Nolena.  The kids from the school acted like they really enjoyed what they were doing, and it's a real treat to see them.  And I'm sure, a treat for them to get out of class for a couple hours.....  :)

I am wondering if anyone has a cell or contact phone number (other than home) for Vi O'Connor.  She lives up her and we haven't been able to reach her and need to get a hold of her.  Thought I'd tag this group in case she attends the luncheon and someone might have a number. If you do, could you please message me asap. We'd like to get a hold of her and can't reach her at home. (She's a neighbor and friend of ours.) Thank you.

I need to count on my friends over the next few months to help disseminate the information on our Senior meal program.This months meal which is on 1/20/16 will be Spaghetti and meatballs, salad and of course garlic bread, coffee, tea and water. Don't know what our desert will be but it should all be good.

It looks like Joyce Gwinner and the Quilts of Valor folks will be at the church about 11:45 tomorrow to present Harry Krig with the quilt that he was scheduled to receive last November at the Veterans Day Celebration.  Unfortunately Harry was not able to attend the November Ceremony but is looking forward to receiving the quilt tomorrow at the Senior Luncheon.

The next Senior Luncheon is planned for April 10, 2019. Lasagne, salad, breadsticks, dessert and beverages - all yours for $5 per person. Held at the Methodist Church Community Hall, sponsored by Snowline School District.
