Title: Swansea - Cerro Gordo 4x4 rd

We rode the Swansea - Cerro Gordo 4x4 road last Friday.  The road out of Swansea is 4x4 only.  You can drive up to Cerro Gordo out of Keeler in a passenger car.  The Swansea - Cerro Gordo loop is 37 miles.

Did a tour of Cerro Gordo once. Pretty cool place.  :)

Hard to imagine that Owens lake was once deep enough to have large steamships crossing it supporting Cerro Gordo.

Loved your pictures, too! 2years ago we took jeeps up the back way and had the most delicious Cerro Gordo root beer, made and bottled by the owner. We sat along the edge of the hotel porch and enjoyed the view as we drank it. His little museum is fascinating, too.

Great pictures - and thanks for the links as well!  My wife and I were camping near Lone Pine in the spring and us along with others got a tour across(!) the dry lake bed by a  Inyo County supervisor that led to the town of Keeler.  The history of the area including the mines up in the hills was very interesting.
