Terry - the next to last photo appears to be Inspiration Point

Yes the second to the last picture does appear to be Inspiration Point, and the last picture looks like a shot about 1 mile west of it, facing East on the road.

Interestingly enough in the PDF story from 1956, they referred to the road as ROUTE 61.   I wonder when the California 2 became
the official name, and why.

I wish we can find clearer pictures...I wonder if the road dept has them on file. However, yes ..that second to the last pic is most surely the curve as you reach the west entrance/exit of Inspiration point :) --- I was wondering about the road number myself, all that I've read... it was always considered 2....

What a great article about the Angeles Crest Highway! Loved all the photos. Thanks for posting this excellent piece of history.
