Anyone know how much snow we got that winter of 1997-98?  Can't find anything online ... this site goes back to '03.  Just curious.

Can't say how much but I rode my snowmobile around town more that year than any of the last 26 years

Went snowboarding on Mothers Day at Mt High that season, then to Mt Baldy on June 2nd. another year about 00
-01 season my teenagers were jumping off a second story balcony into huge snowdrifts at our home there was so much snow piled high above the 6k

Ok guys.. we now have a "Godzilla El Nino" (LAT)  possibly, almost certainly, but maybe not predicted for this winter. After that storm, two weeks ago Thursday.. Green Road was a river.  That river breeched our front driveway on Green and really blew out an area along our fenceline. It washed out bushes and created an island in the middle of Green.

We were talking about all this last night and what we're going to do to mitigate that should we get the torrential rains that are maybe, likely, possibly predicted.
We're going with likely in our planning. 

Most of us here live on slopes.. some steeper than others. Those slopes enhance the effects of rain runoff as they travel downhill.  We've now jettisoned the idea of a hot-air balloon and kayaks. Tho, we're talking about a Raging Waters run for practice.

Here we want to make sure the water keeps running down Green. We've accepted the fact that we can't realign Green to make sure that happens.  We're thinking about stocking up on sandbags. And, I want to be very mindful of my neighbors downhill from us. County Roads do come and build berms along the roadside. Unfortunately, this last time, they didn't do that until after the storm.  And, we have to be mindful that a number of feet outside our gates are in the County Road area.. so we're limited in that way too.

I just thought I'd kick off this part of the discussion of an El Nino effect now. This is the time of year I turn my attention to prep for winter. There are a lot of very, savvy, informed folks on this Forum.  So, I hope we can start a discussion about prep for the likely, maybe El Nino.  cheryl o7o
