With the advent of electric cars to help cut down on fossil fuel emissions it was just a matter of time before electric motorcycles are being introduced. The Zero electric motorcycles are on the market now and for sale. They can can top out at 90 MPH and have a range of 171 miles in between charges. Some folks I know who have taken test drives tell me they are quick spontaneous and have great power and acceleration. Imagine riding through the forest and the only sound you hear is the wind blowing around you.

Sounds appealing, and it's an idea I've considered too, but it's still a bike. Nowadays there are a lot of rocks on Angeles Crest - that's a more serious issue on a bike. And then there's the gear you should ride with, and the fishbowl you have to wear on your head. Also, it's not silent and I believe I read that their range and power is reduced dramatically in hilly terrain.
New cars have made dramatic advancements with respect to noise. Tire quality and brand make a huge difference. But with Angeles Crest, the premature resurfacing they did last year took it from being a whisper quiet road to something much less so. I'd suggest a carefully selected convertible for an open driving experience that does not require leather pants...unless you're into that kind of thing.

aren't motorcycles supposed to be annoyingly loud? after all "loud pipes save lives" :P
