I am converting under-house storage into extra living & storage space with 8 foot ceilings. I need someone who can look at my plans and tell me whether or not I am going to have to install fire sprinklers. I have called Pacific West Fire Protection (760-249-1220) and the WW Fire Station (760-249-3206) to try to find out some information, but no one ever answers either line. Does anyone know who I can submit my preliminary plans to so I can know whether or not I am "over the limit" on my addition space and will need to have fire sprinklers added to the project? Thanks so much! :)

You may want to contact the County Fire Planning & Engineering Dept. Here is a link...

I would avoid giving up your address and try to stay vague... a question like.... I'm just wondering what is required if I remodel/add on to my house. Are fire sprinklers required? or anything else I should know about?

Well...just talked to Mark at the fire station :2thumbsup:, who gave me a San Bernardino County Community Safety number that I'm going to try next. (909)386-8402
He was very helpful! (Our Wrightwood firefighters are awesome!) ;D ;D
We'll see what I find out at this number, but if anyone else has any information for me, please feel free to post. I can use all the assistance I can get. ;)

Thanks Elk! My only question is, why do I need to be incognito? I was just hoping to be able to show the plan I have and then ask what to do. I don't want to get into the middle of a project and find out then that I need to install sprinklers. That would be a super expensive nightmare.
If I need to have the plans redrawn so that my project will not need sprinklers, I want to know now. What will they do if they know who I am and where I live?

BabyEagle I checked with a Fire Prevention Officer who has worked with the Fire Safe Council on many issues.
I sent your posting to him and he said:
"If the house is already sprinkllered it will require protection. If not then I do not believe so but the best way to find out is contact our office directly and ask. (760) 995-8190. "
