A grand idea.  My question does it fund the infrastructure that will make sure all of these ideals are going to be met and provide for things like restrooms and trash collection?.  Kinda reminds me of the Obama deal with the Angeles.  Lots of great ideas but what is the permanent funding?.....will it be relying all on grants and private money which hasn't exactly been flooding in.

Jim, et al.. I think the distinction here is that Rep. Cook has one proposal and Senator Feinstein has another proposal.. and she's also pushing for Obama to use the Antiquities Act to declare National Monument status for the areas she's designated in her bill.   Short answer to your question.. from my perspective is that neither one of these proposals guarantee any more money for any area.. however they may be declared what the whatever by whom. It is simply another pissing match between the Reps and the Dems.  However,  some areas could be preserved under National Monument status a lot faster than under Rep. Cook's proposal.
Plus, I do remain concerned about the mining operations that would be protected in Cook's bill.  My take.. cheryl o7o
