It's not that gov't can't live within its means...it's that the initiative/referendum process lets them be cowards.  Pretty much all tough/unpopular votes are put onto us.  They do the easy stuff, cut this ribbon, honor these first responders.

All we can do is vote no.  I sometimes wonder about this particular legacy of Prop 13 and its super-majority requirement.

wow..now theres a battle of the Titans....a cannabis group vs business laden HJTA....

some one needs to explain to me how one person equals one vote isnt fair..
With Prop 13, one "No" vote doesnt carry the same value as one "Yes" vote..

Frequently it's not fair.

One way to describe democracy is "Two wolves and one lamb voting on what's for dinner."

In the CSA election, the residents (registered voters in Wrightwood) were heard, and absent landowners (who are taxed here) had no say in the decision.

Before Proposition 13, people who had lived in their homes for decades were being taxed out of their homes.  Land prices were high, so moving wasn't possible for those on a fixed income.

We have different rules for taxes because raising taxes can have an unfair effect on those who can't afford new taxes.

If you follow the business news at all, you know that there are some pretty well known names that are slowly moving toward the Marijuana business.  I'd want to know who was behind both groups before I made a call on that one.
