Every time we have snow and ice conditions in the mountains, people die trying to do things they shouldn't do. People walk on thin ice at Jackson Lake, hike the Acorn Trail or Mount Baldy or the Little Jimmy Trail or Baden Powell when the trails are covered in ice and it's a looooong way down. Even experienced, well-equipped hikers can slide down ice chutes.
I don't hike steep places until the snow and ice have melted.
But I don't know how you can control bad judgement. It just happens.

Back when we used to get snow, we had one year when over 12 people died in ice chutes at parking areas like Inspiration Point.

This is not an easy place to get to, let alone take a one year old baby.  Our world is full of people who have lost their minds.  Oh...this is a youtube cliff jumping site and the the whole area has been trashed by those who like to haul their ice chests in and leave with them empty.  Hopefully, they will at least get a child endangerment charge for amazing lack of common sense.

And yet if you go to the link below from REI, the trail is listed as "intermediate" and "dog friendly". I would NEVER take a dog on this trail. Nor myself, for that matter  ;D
I posted as much on the comment section a year ago, which no longer seems available, and a guy told me that I was full of it and it was a very nice trail. I replied again and also alerted REI but got no reply. Content has not changed. The only thing that I could figure is that he never got to the "backbone" part. I dunno. I will forward this info to the reporter as she probably has the best info on how to get it to the right person - the page needs to be modified or taken down.
