Wrightwood FB page reports a wildfire start near Flume Canyon and SR -2. Station 14 enroute, has a sighting on the fire.
Per ME 14, estimated size is 1 acre, slow rate of spread. Appears to be off of Lodgepole, in the forest. Listening to the Scanner on System 1 - Fire.

Wildfire is burning on Flume Canyon and Hwy 2. Just called dispatch and 911.
-
I'm watching it now. Looks like more than 1 acre. Maybe 5?
-
One helicopter on scene. Unknown if it's to drop water or just for surveillance
-
Per WW FB, full brush responses are either on-scene or en-route from both SB and LA counties.
-
It's definitely spreading downward a bit now.
-
Structure defense is number 1
-
Faster fire behavior than one would expect this time of year.

we might be able to follow progress via the SB County Fire twitter account:

Those coordinates indicate the intersection of SR 2 and Flume Canyon Road. They have to stage the equipment somewhere...
-
I'm hearing people who are watching it say it's up the canyon, above houses
-
Flames seem to have backed off some

Update on the Flume fire.. the IC is calling it 2-3 acres. The fire is held up on a 2 track road above Swallow hill Drive. The wind is blowing the fire back on itself. Crews are making good progress with hose lays. LA county helicopter 14 is working the fire but they have a long turn around time to get water.
-
Fenner Camp also working the fire
-
From my home off Rivera, I can say that there is a huge change in what I see now, vs one hour ago. Now, I only see dull embers burning. I no longer see the bright orange ring of fire we saw before
-
Hose line around the fire

Awesome work by everyone involved. Thank you to all the firefighters, air crews, support crews, LEOs, and everyone involved with keeping our town safe. Peace and Good luck.

Nice photo Chuck,
Is there any confirmation of cause? I read fireworks were being lit off yesterday. That information didn't mention a location of the fireworks. Looking at incident reports it either didn't happen or it wasn't called in to report the fireworks.
