This is a crazy fire! Reports of multiple burn victims, abandoned vehicles blocking roadway access for emergency responders, multiple structures lost, evacuees unable to evacuate and sheltering in businesses while FF's try to protect them.

#CampFire no firefighting efforts are being done right now. Everyone is being used for life safety. All along Skyway from Wagstaff to Neal are problems. Trying to get a dozer or loader to start moving cars. Right now fire engines are doing what they can.

#CampFire (Butte Co) - Both lanes of Neal Rd from Skyway are being used to evacuate vehicles westbound. FF's now reporting roof of the hospital is on fire in Paradise - trying to contain that.

*Note: Radio traffic indicated that they are losing water pressure in hydrants at hospital and requested all available water tenders.

I've been listening to the Northern California Major Incident feed pretty much all day.  Some dramatic moments, and around 4:00pm, reports of some fool flying a drone that was spotted by ground crews.  ::)

IC was saying that they were going to wrap up air operations around 5:30pm.  I saw one of the last C-130 MAFFS aircraft lift off from McClellan around 5:25 pm, headed north.

Stay safe my friends.

Just saw a piece on KABC regarding utility liability. The law allowing them to pass on their liabilities to ratepayers doesn't take effect until Jan. 1, 2018.  tsk tsk

The effective date of the bill allowing utilities to pass their liability costs onto rate payers is Jan. 1, 2019.  My previous post was an error. Thanks for catching it.

Drones photograph the damage in Paradise caused by the Camp Fire

The photos and videos can help residents check the status of their homes
A large group of mapping and drone experts have photographed from the air the Paradise, California area that was devastated by the Camp Fire that roared through the communities November 8. The photos and videos shot by drones were all georeferenced and put into a map format, making it possible for residents to check the status of their homes. Drones flew above all of the major roads shooting videos, and 360-degree photos were taken from the air in 200 locations which can be panned and zoomed. The resolution is very good since they were taken with 20 megapixel cameras.

The maps can be viewed at the Butte County website. (https://buttecountygis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/index.html?appid=af7e5bb3960a48c096ed910c640a30b3)

I'm so proud of my son. He has worked for Drone Deploy for the past two years and and is one of the developers who worked to make the mapping software used in this recent application, as well as the construction, agriculture, and other industries.

This recent fire has been so devastating and I'm glad these maps will help. We have a friend up there who lost everything.
