Hey there.
What is the plan for this year's trick or treat / trunk or treat?
I don't have Facebook so I can't look at that page and have tried searching, but have found no information.
What day/time will it be going on? Will it be trunk or treat style on Park St., Or traditional trick or treating in the neighborhoods?
Thanks!

This Sunday, Oct. 31st, the Village businesses will again be giving out candy to Trick or Treaters.

Beware of the cars on the Highway and the crazies visiting town, as the Chaos is back !

I've seen a few families on Facebook mention they are tired of the crowding in town, so they will be doing traditional door to door trick or treating instead.

Haven't been to town for 3 years now as that is not " Trick or Treating ", it's " Treating Only for show " by the businesses that are forced to join in and spend hundreds of dollars to treat many locals and more non-locals. Well there it is !

My 6 year old grandson went door to door, we walked less than a mile and only hit about a dozen houses, just the ones with porch lights on. They were all very nice and he got plenty of candy. I appreciate what the businesses do, and I know most of them enjoy it. And we always donate several bags too help them out, but I'm sure it is a large expense. Anyone have a good estimate of the number of trick or treaters that go to town?

I enjoyed having dinner at a local business and watching happy, polite families take their little monsters through town. I saw lots of dinosaurs, princesses, hilarious creations, creations I couldn't identify, and all of the children seemed well supervised, and were polite, most saying "Thank you." CERT was out controlling traffic and keeping families safe, and really helped me to get my car safely past the little monsters when I drove home. I thoroughly enjoyed this event. ?

Door to door trick-or-treat is best. I doubt any of us would prefer "businesses" to what we did as kids.

Last time I went trick-or-treating it was in the neighborhood, and without adult supervision. Nothing bad happened.
It was probably 55 years ago.
The change happened because there were stories of fishhooks in homemade popcorn balls, doctored candy, kidnapping, molestation, etc. I don't know if this happened, or it was an urban legend, but I suspect the latter.
Some marketing weasel at some mall said "we're brightly lit and it's far less anonymous dealing with our stores -- and look at the traffic it will bring to our mall!"
Most people don't even buy candy anymore, unless they're a business.
