what has happened to the live Cam? It's black when ever I look at it and also live weather, did I miss something on it.
Thanks

After years of service the outdated camera died. A replacement is being considered.

May we all bow our heads in a moment of silence for the Mtn Hardware Live Cam. :'(
It served us well and personally, I will miss it. A thankless job of being exposed to some of the worst weather and traffic conditions and it did this all without hesitation or complaint.
RIP our friend!

Make sure to comment if you're able (or not) to see the Hwy 2 camera image
-
I can see the camera image. It also changes and updates as you click the refresh button on your browser. The refresh works regardless of how often you refresh.
I used my laptop with google chrome browser and it also worked from my iPhone with Safari.
-
Thanks Elk
That's the type of feedback I need
-
All I get is a blank box that blinks. There is a little square in the upper left corner of the box, but nothing happens if I click that.

I see the live cam. Macbookpro with latest software. When i click on the photo it seems to change to the next image.

The image can't load because it's a mixed-https page. wrightwoodcalif.com is a secure page trying to load insecure content (the content being the camera image), so many browsers block it from loading.
-

Same thing as what I reported above. There is likely something that's not loaded on this laptop, and I'm extremely computer illiterate so there isn't really much I would know how to fix.
-
Thank you for the information everyone.
Nope no image that I can see on Chrome or Safari
-
Hey Wrightwood. Clicking the link shows a great image with live action
-
Works fine. Firefox and Linux Mint.
I do miss the stream, though. Can't really tell how many people run the stop-sign.
-
Works fine on Firefox.
It does not work on Brave, having the same broken link image that ForestGal said, blinking every second or so.
-
It might work a little better if you could put an "A" record pointing cam.wrightwoodcalif.com to 66.146.102.124, then linked to it by name.
It's hard to guess what some "security-minded" browsers like, and what they hate.
-
Works on Chrome. Auto updates and also with refresh button. I just wish it was in a higher definition (but very thankful that it works!). Thanks!!!!
-
Works fine with updates on safari on my iPad.

I just tried it on my new iPhone 12, and it works on Safari. I guess it doesn't like something on my browser on my laptop (the browser is Microsoft Edge).
-
Same here I can see it on my old I phone but not my lap top.

Bump Bump I still can't see it on my PC just my phone will work.
-
Not sure who currently runs the Live Cam, but I'd be happy to put my own equipment up there to replace it and host a public URL myself.
-
The problem seems to be caused by HTTP links. More and more of the browsers out there try to switch to HTTPS whenever possible.
Once they change a page from HTTP to HTTPS, the link to the camera (HTTP, no server certificate) is unencrypted, and the browser folks have decided that's unsafe.
Be interesting to see how many go to the link Wrightwood posted earlier (which is HTTP:) and get the HTTPS version.

I can totally provide SSL on the camera. What I was specifically talking about was how http://66.146.102.124/-wvhttp-01-/getoneshot?frame_count=no_limit&image_size=960x540 is now a mostly-black screen.

... black screen because your browser is set to ignore insecure content on a secure page.
Seems to me that you can either throw more hardware at the problem, or serve http://www.wrightwoodcalif.com/townlive.htm without SSL/TLS.
Works fine here, no black screen, but asking people to figure out how to change browser settings is unreasonable.
-
It's definitely the camera, as this is what I see: https://i.imgur.com/Apx5BcZ.png
And I have no mixed-HTTPS content warnings in Chrome Dev Tools.

Well, I see the image just fine. It may be as simple as a setting on the camera.
Suggest you PM "Wrightwood" and offer your assistance. He might take you up on it, or he might already have a better solution coming.
-
Two different camera images that's making it confusing
Camera #1
The PTZ camera on Mtn Hardware is dead. We have a replacement and waiting for clear weather and no crowds to replace the camera (will take time). You will receive the black image if your using the old link:
It's definitely the camera, as this is what I see: https://i.imgur.com/Apx5BcZ.png
Camera #2
This is a traffic cam that is facing the stop sign and has been used as a temporary substitution for Camera #1 while it's down. It is not a secure https connection and does cause issues for some browsers and works for others. http://www.wrightwoodcalif.com/townlive.htm
-
I clicked on this link and NOW I can see, thank you.
-
I can see it on my phone, but not my computer. Oh well, the phone image works.

Works on my computer! Thank you! Glad I'm in my warm house.
-
Yay! Works on my laptop!

The incidentcontrol link works on my android phone. The older link didn't.

Works for me, Windows 10, HP laptop. Refreshes every 10-15 seconds.

And it works with Edge and Chrome on Windows 10.

The link at the top of the Forum (LiveCam Interactive) should now redirect to the new link.
Note: Make sure to refresh your browser

Last night I put together a little test. Here's the mountain hardware cam, but on a secured page and with a full resolution video feed: https://tt2468.net/cams/mtnhardwarecam.html
EDIT: The camera seems to have a pretty unstable connection to the internet, so it does occasionally buffer.

OK, now I cannot get any link to the live cam to work. it was previously (on Chrome and Safari on iPad), but now..nothing but blank. Any suggestions?

A big thank you to Byron from UIA!

Thank You :)

Do you think we will get back to the live action camera some day?

We are working on it

In the next few day's the livecam image will be unavailable for a period of time due to some necessary changes in UIA networking.

Thanks for the info

Do you think you will be able to get the live cam working again? Sounds like some changes were done in UIA networking and maybe changed how you linked to the cam?
We have enjoyed being able to check the live feed.
Thank you.
-
Yes I'm trying to get it back online. Unfortunately the scripts that I had made to process the live video I deleted by accident (along with a bunch of other data) and I haven't been able to remake them yet.
-
Camera should be back up now. Will have to monitor for bugs in this new script, but seems to be working fine for now: https://tt2468.net/cams/hwy2_mtnhardware.html
-
working great!
thank you
-
Thank you, tt2468! It's nice to be able to see what's going on at that intersection.
-
I looked at the official links, and both seem to be working fine.
I ran an ISP for several years, and when changing how things route or changing how names resolve, I would always predict a much longer outage.
For example, when changing upstream providers, I'd tell people everything should be fine by Sunday. I usually started the move about 10pm on Friday and was done (and asleep) by midnight.
-
Link hasn't worked for a couple of days

Is it still just still shots and no video?
-
Live video was available using this link https://tt2468.net/cams/hwy2_mtnhardware.html
But the link is no longer active
-
That link works perfectly for me..all live. I am using my ipad and chrome.
-
Hmm... not working on Win11
-
Same here, I'm running Win11 and tried Chrome, Edge, and Firefox all with no luck. I see the video frame with the play button in the middle but nothing happens when I press play.

Ah sorry about this! The feed itself is up, but it appears that the "big brain developers" over at video.js have broken their API and it's causing the page not to load right. Will work on fixing it today.
-
Pages are fixed. If you want to know how stupid the people over at video.js are, they managed to break *their own* demo page and still have not fixed it: https://videojs.github.io/videojs-contrib-hls/
-
Thanks tt2468
Working again
-
It's working for me now too, thank you very much.
-
Any chance someone can wipe the mountain hardware camera lens? Looks to be covered in snow. If not, I can try to make it out there later today.
-
It was mostly clear at 1pm and then the snow started sticking to the camera

That would be great :)

It appears clear now, but it's view has changed. It is pointed at more of a downward angle
-
I went there with a pole and a brush but unfortunately it loosened the hex set screw on the mount when I did it. By chance does anyone have a tall (ideally 10 or 12ft) A-frame ladder that I can borrow to get up to the camera and tighten the screw?
-
Camera has been realigned and working - Thank you!
-
Yep! Managed to finally dig myself out of the driveway and get over there with a borrowed 8ft ladder to reach it. All tightened back up now! I started recording a timelapse of the camera, so when it snows I'm sure it'll make a great video.

Thank you !!!

Ditto.

I do see a live image but unlike Mt high web came I can see people moving.
-
During the day are you seeing the Mt Hardware flag moving?
-
Nope just a still shot of it, I can hit refresh and get a new shot but no movement.
I don't know if it's a setting on my PC but I can watch Mt high and everything is moving.
-
Or cars running the stop sign :o

Same for me.
Having the live stream cam access is great. I always had to refresh the still image before.
Thanks!

The camera app is down again
-
Sorry that the camera is down again. I've been upgrading hardware at my house (which runs the backend for the camera page), and it's taken a few days. I'll have it running again tonight.

Thanks tt2468 :2thumbsup:

Camera is back up. The old URL will now redirect to a new page (at https://camera-mtx.tt2468.net/hwy2_mtnhardware/ (https://camera-mtx.tt2468.net/hwy2_mtnhardware/)). This is probably a temporary location, so I would avoid bookmarking it until I consider the new system finished. I'm working on a site that includes more angles of town, including a few cameras I put up today near downtown.
-
Thank you for the fyi
I just tried it and nothing there, it says try again later.
-
Its working great! Thanks tt2468
looks like an even crisper video quality

Hmm, does it work now? Perhaps the camera happened to be down for a short time when you went to visit the page? If it's still broken, which browser on which device are you using?

It's fixed now. SCE decided that even though the power bill was paid and the account was in good standing, that they'd just go ahead and randomly shut the meter off this morning. Ran a temporary power cord from another unit until they figure that stuff out. Massively frustrating.
-
Nice image from Evergreen
-
I think I might stay away for a day. Has anyone seen the condition of the bridges on either Hwy 2 or Lone Pine?
-
Highway 2 is fine. No debris
-
Hi there, I was. wondering what the word is on the Evergreen live cam not working?
-
I've created a new website for the live cams that are around Wrightwood. I have a main page for video streams here: https://wrightwood.tt2468.net/overlay/01KDESM4XXA3RC5RZ42W4K4943 (https://wrightwood.tt2468.net/overlay/01KDESM4XXA3RC5RZ42W4K4943)
I also have a directory listing of different information pages, like a page for the county ravine cameras here: https://wrightwood.tt2468.net/ (https://wrightwood.tt2468.net/)
-
That is great thank you
-
tt2468---Thank You for the video links!!
It helps family and friends out of state and down the hill know what is going on.
Thank You so much for your time and energy to get those links up and running!!
