Title: HAM radio and Wrightwood, in the Daily Press

If you didn't already see it, the first page of the D (Desert Living) section, todays (9/30/06) paper, there is an article on HAM radio, during the Angeles Crest 100 race.

It gives a good overall view of HAM radio, and why it is important, even in this day and age.

See if you can spot the forum member...

  It looks like they're discussing putting a GPS tracking device in the loincloth of one of the Barefoot Peruvian Runners to keep from losing them. 
 
   That son of a gun is outrunning the radar! Even the sheep are easier to track! ;D

 Very nice write up with a good explanation of how Ham radio serves more than just chit chat with other Hams.  :thumbs:
