I've got a trailer that came with my new place. I originally thought I would fix it up, but now priorities have changed and I'd just like to unload it. Having a charity pick it up (tires are flat) and haul it off the property seems the most attractive at this point.
Anyone have experience with donating vehicles/trailers to charity? One stumbling block is that I don't have the original pink slip, although I have the registration from 1976 or so. I don't even know if the original owner is still alive.

do you have any pictures? could it possibly be used as a office? i might know someone that wants it.

We donated a car a few years ago using http://www.kars4kids.org/ it was totally painless.
I don't know if they take trailers, but if you goggle "donate a trailer" you will find several options.

We donated a Geo Metro to the Salvation Army a few years ago. It was drivable and they came and got it at the Cajon McDonald's. We filed a Release of Liability with the DMV and good thing we did. The Salvation Army never registered the car we donated, sold it to someone who then sold it so someone else and it got impounded because the guy driving it got pulled over and was drunk. We were getting letters for years from the Corona Police Dept. saying we owed towing and impound fees. Thank God we did that Release of Liability and kept a copy on hand. The date on it proved we weren't liable. We produced that, along with the Salvation Army receipt and never had to pay any fees. Get a receipt and keep all papers in a file. You may never know if you'll need it to prove something in the future like we had to.

Well, I went to the DMV to get a replacement pink slip. According to my paperwork, all I need now is "verification of the vehicle identification number by a peace officer, an authorized employee of the DMV, or a licensed vehicle verifier." There's a form that the verifier fills out.
The trailer is immobile, so obviously I couldn't take it to the DMV and have them do it. Has anyone done this through county Sheriff, CHP, or a licensed verifier?

Oh, by the way, I called Karen's in Hesperia. She been too busy to do VIN verifications herself, but she gave me contact info for someone in Phelan who came up and did it - which worked well.
