I just spoke with Captain Felgar at Wrightwood Fire Station and he said they have plenty of sand and bags available. If you have an area that needs sand bagging do not wait.
Here's some photos of people filling sand bags a few weeks ago.

I just checked with Wrightwood Fire and they have plenty of sand and bags on hand.

Thank you for the info!
I am going there this afternoon!
-
This is probably a dumb question but how do you know if you need sandbags?
-
One indication would be how your property held up during the storms in September! If everything was fine during that storm then you probably don't have a problem. We had bad flooding and deterioration along a section of our property so I know we need to be prepared!
-
Anyone know if there is a cutoff time this evening for a sandbag pickup?
-
I was there about an hour ago prepared to fill my own bags, but apparently some missionaries had filled up quite a few bags and I was told I could just take them. Thanks to whoever filled them up! You have to sign in at the office.
-
:o We had to check in and sign in?? Oops. My kids and I filled and put seven bags into the back of my truck but didn't let anyone know. Guess maybe I'll sign in tomorrow. Now I feel like a thief.
-
You don't need to feel like a thief.
The sand bags are there for residents to protect their property.
They just don't want someone going down there and hording all of them for others to come up short.
-
A sincere thanks to the two nice young missionary guys who filled my bags...THANK U, THANK U, THANK U. :2thumbsup:
-
Oops, I didn't sign in either, but I only needed three bags, so probably not a big deal.

This may be an important thread this weekend.

PLEASE BE PREPARED!
No matter what happens the rest of the weekend, we need to be prepared for the worst of all circumstances.
Be safe folks!

Can we still get sand bags at the fire station? This may sound strange with all the snow on the ground, but I'm quite worried with this next storm :-\
-
Yes the Wrightwood fire station has sandbags available.
Do not hesitate if you have areas prone to flooding as this rain event may cause excessive runoff due to melting snow.
-
Mine are in place.

The winter of '93 brought a huge snow storm followed by the pineapple express. Rain and melting snow ran down our street like a small river. The water somehow routed its way from the street and under the snow pack in our front yard. It sprung out at our front door step. Our little living room was completely flooded....That was our first rental home which was NOT built on a raised foundation. It's always good to have a few sand bags on had up here.
