Over 450 family, friends, coworkers and neighbors celebrated Darren Coffey's life yesterday at the Serrano High School Performing Art's Center. It was standing room only and the memorial played out over a short two hours. Laughter and applause filled the air as story after story was told about Darren's love of life and the wonder of nature. Music played an important part of the ceremony as Darren's brother, Eric anchored a number of musical selections that were special to Darren on acoustical guitar. There was even an original song that was performed by his friends. The music was powerful, poignant and very personal.
A slide show took us through the times of Darren's life. The Forest Service Honor Guard was there to pay their respects one last time for one of their own and the sound of bagpipes was something that moved emotions. Oldest brother, Keith led us through the program and did a wonderful job of telling Darren's story as did all his family and friend's.
It was a fitting celebration for a young man who loved his family, friends, coworkers and all of outdoors.
