2010 " Music in the Pines " Concert Series
« on: Feb 05, 10, 02:40:03 PM »

Ello Ello ! Here we go again. Gary and I are getting started on the new " Music in the Pines " Concert series. Saturday, Feb 13th 8pm, is  " Mardi Gras " fundraiser night at the Yodeler. Everyone is invited and there will be Gumbo, New Orleans music, beads and Chester's special "VooDoo" concoction. Bonnie is donating two large bar gift baskets, that she intends to raffle off by tickets, that night. All proceeds, from the raffle ,will go to the " Music in the Pines " account. So come on out and have a New Orleans good time!
I also want to thank Hank and Chris Hallmark for our first donation of the year. They have always been great supporters of the Wrightwood music scene, Cheers mate, Dan

Do the winners of the baskets have to be present to win?  In other words, can tickets be bought in advance, and the winners notified?  In case a person isn't able to attend the event on the 13th.

Could you please post again, the P.O. Box # were donations can be sent?  Your summer concert series is an absolute "can't miss" event for our community,  2thumbsup   and I'm more than happy to help.

Hello everyone ! We have had a few donations to the Concert Series already and with Greg and Linda's golf tournament effort ,we should be off to a good start.  This year our goal is to purchase a new sound system for the "Music in the Pines" Concert Series and any future Wrightwood Mountain Music Festivals. We have been struggling with a "bits and pieces" sound system, borrowed from individuals, that I have to go and collect every concert. We are on the verge of having it shut down every time we use it ,as the system is not made to cover the Vivian Null parking lot. The sound quality is, at best, just ok, and as the popularity of the "Music in the Pines" Thursday nights has grown to 300-400 people relaxing and taking in a great free event ,the sound system will not be able make it.
Gary and I plan to expand the Thursday night Concerts Series to 4 nights and we will have a 5th evening with Mike Troeger and the gang at the Mt. Hardware's Customer Appreciation Day.
With most of the funds needed to improve the music scene and purchase an appropriate sound system, I have had to cancel the Wrightwood Mountain Music Festival this year. Last year, due to the economy and losing 50% of our sponsor funding, I had to shorten the event to one day. If it were not for the individual donations we would not have even had that day. I also intend to move the festival to a more suitable time of year. Possibly into June.  Labor Day weekend is a very difficult time to get everyone out , as they are either on the road, done with the summer mentally and the kids are already in school.
So this year, we will expand the Thursday concerts , bring in more food options and improve what we can afford. Hopefully, we have your support. And thanks to Danny Kawakami and Patricia Strader, R.J. Benitz, Hank and Chris Hallmark ,Karin Core and Gary Sizemore for their donations to get us started. Cheers,Dan

 Cool  Hey All,
Did you know you don't have to be a merchant to be a Tee Box sponsor at the Music in the Pines golf tournament?!!!

hobbes for one, is going to be a Tee box sponsor, and will be playing in the event!  Man, I wonder how many golf balls I'll lose on that day?

But even scarier; ol' hobbes will be raffled off during the tournament to play guitar and sing at a private party for the raffle winner!  Holy Crud, they're going to force me to learn the words to my songs again.  But who knows, maybe I'll be able to convince some other Wrightwood musician's to join me and turn it into a back yard event to remember.

So check out the details with Greg or Linda at the Village Grind and join the fun supporting the Wrightwood Music effort!

WOW ~ As has been the case from the first time he was asked to support the music scene in Wrightwood , Mike Troeger of Mt. Hardware has donated a Great Sponsorship to the " Music in the Pines " Concert series effort, through the  Golf Tournament Sponsorship Event. This will be a good start in helping us get enough funds to purchase a new sound system ,for the Concert Series . Even with the economy affecting all our local businesses, Mike has done it again. Please ,if you need anything ," Shop Wrightwood 1st " and certainly shop at Mt. Hardware. Thanks Mike , dan

I know this is off topic but Mike from Mt Hardware is the best!
He's helping sponsor this year's Tri-Community Green Waste Recycling Event from May 1-8.
Send them an email and they'll add you to the "Mt Hardware Specials" list.

Another "great"  donation from Captain Tom Pinard. Tom has always been a " go to " guy who has supported us from the beginning, many years ago. He supports us even though he is many times out and about representing the Navy. Thanks Tom ,Dan
