Golf Carts
DeweyD:
I've looked for specific guidance on golf carts on Wrightwood streets, and I've only found rumors and contrasting opinions. The law says they're allowed on 25 mph streets, with appropriate safety upgrades, IF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY ALLOWS. Has that occurred in our town? We can get downtown from our cabin with those requirements, but before we invest in a cart, I'd love to have something that officially blesses the use of the cart. Thanks.

I believe it's allowed when you're within a mile from a golf course.... not just "anywhere if the local community permits". In most cases, they must be registered and properly equipped for travel on public streets anyway.

Golf carts here in the land of the golf cart DUI (Avalon, ca) are licensed and plated by the DMV and require a permit by the city.
They're also limiting new carts length to 130 inches inches in length. Existing longer carts are grandfathered in.
I think I'd go have a conversation with the DMV before purchasing one for WW.
oddly I've never heard any discussion about insurance.. I'm gonna cruise downtown and ask my buddies.
If you buy one I recommend a six seater where the backseat folds down and makes a deck. It's handy when you're running around with four people and a couple dogs.

That news article is incomplete... I believe California Vehicle Code citations, more than a news article. Please read the regulations I cited.
